Easy Toaster Oven No-Boil Pasta Bake

Can you make a delicious pasta dish in just your toaster oven? Damn right you can!

This recipe has been tested to work perfectly in a toaster oven and using just one pan. Normally I don’t do a whole lot of text before my recipes because I know I hate it when you have to scroll for three days to get to the good part, but there are some things we need to cover along the way.

The best pan for this baked pasta recipe

For baking things in a toaster oven, I’ve found that the best pan that you can use is a simple 9″x9″ stainless steel pan. I’m not a fan of non-stick by any means because the surfaces are relatively fragile, leach chemicals, and are just pointless. A set of plain old steel pans like these on Amazon, will last you for decades.

If you are really worried about something you are baking sticking, then simply line your pan with parchment paper.

Cooking the sausage for this recipe

I prefer to use uncooked sausage in my recipes, so they need some cooking before going in with anything else. You can do this in the same pan you will cook everything else in. If you prefer to use pre-cooked sausage, then you can skip this step and just go ahead, slice it up and put it in with everything else.

Equipment

  • 9×9 Pan

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. uncooked dried pasta shells
  • 6 oz. Italian sausages
  • 1 14 oz. can diced tomatoes with the juice
  • 1 tbsp Double strength tomato paste
  • 1 cups shredded mozzarella divided
  • ½ tsp. garlic powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • tsp. black pepper
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup chicken stock
  • ¼ cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

Preparing your sausage (raw sausage)

  • Set your toaster oven to 400°F.
  • While the oven is heating, cut your sausages up into ~½" chunks and arrange in the pan
  • Cook your sausage about 10 minutes, stirring once

Assemble your pasta

  • To the baking dish add the pasta, diced tomatoes with juice, 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir.
  • Pour the heavy cream and chicken stock over top and make sure that all of the pasta is submerged.
  • Cover with two layers of aluminum foil and make sure it is very well sealed.
  • Put it in the oven until the pasta is tender, about 50 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle with the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella and the Parmesan. This is important as the sauce really thickens up in this time.
  • Let the pasta bake rest uncovered for 15 minutes. This is important as the sauce really thickens up in this time. Turn your oven up to 425℉
  • Return to oven uncovered just until cheese has melted, about 5 minutes.

Notes

Any small shell pasta will work for this recipe, as will farfalle/bowtie or rotini. In a pinch, if you don’t have heavy cream, you can just double the amount of chicken broth.
